Østerbø Fjellstove

Østerbø Fjellstove (820 masl) is located in Aurland municipality in Vestland county. Fjellstova is idyllically located by Aurdalsvatnet in the middle of the beautiful Aurlandsdalen, just off county road 50 Aurland - Hol. This is one of the main roads in between Oslo and Bergen, and it is a short distance to Nærøyfjorden heritage area, Sognefjorden, Flåm with Flåmsbanen, Stegastein and Borgund stave church.

The location in the middle of Aurlandsdalen offers exciting nature experiences. One can plan day trips according to shape and desire. It can be high mountain hikes with hiking on glaciers, fishing in mountain lakes, hiking on marked / unmarked trails or choosing the old hoof trails.

Østerbø Fjellstove is the starting point for the hike from Østerbø to Vassbygdi. This is the last day stage of DNT`s 3-day hike through Aurlandsdalen starting at Finse. You can choose to go from cabin to cabin or use us as a base for day trips.

Østerbø Fjellstove has roots dating back to the 1600th century. Today it is a modern mountain lodge with most facilities, where new and old are in fine harmony.

Mountain storage room

Our mountain storage rooms have 2, 3 or 4 beds and have a simple standard. There is a sink with hot and cold water in all rooms. Shower and toilet are in the corridor. You can use your own sheet bag or bed linen, but it is also possible to rent bed linen and towels from us.

Hotel room

We have 16 standard hotel rooms with shower, toilet, TV and veranda.

Cabins

Cabin no. 1 - 10. 35 – 40 sq m. 2 bedrooms. 1 room with 2 single beds (some of the cabins have a double bed) and 1 room with a bunk bed Possibility of extra bed space on the sofa in the living room. Kitchenette with 2 hotplates, coffee maker and a small fridge. Shower/toilet and sauna All cabins have a TV. cabin 7 got a new kitchen with oven, dishwasher, microwave and large combi fridge/freezer in autumn 2022. Dogs allowed in cabins 1-10.

Cabin no. 11 . 55 sqm. 3 bedrooms + loft. 6 people + extra bed for 2 children in the loft. Living room, fireplace, kitchen, TV, shower / toilet. Cabin no. 12. 50 sqm. 3 bedrooms. 6 people. Living room, fireplace, kitchen, TV, shower / toilet.

Cabin no. 12 . 55 sq m. 3 bedrooms without loft. Max 6 people. Living room, fireplace, kitchen, TV, shower/toilet.

NB! It is not allowed with dogs in cabins 11 and 12

Apartments

Our apartment building has 4 large apartments. Great view over Østerbø and Aurdalsvatnet.

Apartment No. 1 and 2. 98 sqm. 3 bedrooms. There is a sink in each of the rooms. 2 bedrooms have double beds and one has bunk beds. A total of 8 beds. Living room with TV. Modern kitchen with all equipment including dishwasher, stove and fridge / freezer. A bathroom with shower and toilet, and an additional room with only WC. Laundry room with washing machine and drying cabinet. Terrace with beautiful views of the Aurdalen (Østerbø)

Apartment no. 3 and 4. 98 sqm. 3 bedrooms. There is a sink in each of the rooms. 3 bedrooms with double beds. A total of 6 beds. Living room with TV. Modern kitchen with all equipment including dishwasher, stove and fridge / freezer. A bathroom with shower and toilet, and an additional room with only WC. Laundry room with washing machine and drying cabinet. Terrace with beautiful views of the Aurdalen (Østerbø)

NB! Dogs are not allowed in the apartments.

Camping

Our campsite is idyllically situated down towards Aurdalsvannet. We can offer camping for tents, motorhomes and caravans, and there are options for electricity connection. Adjacent to the campsite is a sanitary building with showers, toilets and a washroom. Our camping guests are welcome to use Fjellstova's lounges and restaurant.

The area offers many opportunities for hiking, fishing and excursions. For our guests we also have a rowing boat for rent. NAF members get a discount with us.

Registration and information is at the reception inside Fjellstova. There is also a kiosk where we sell soft drinks, ice cream and pizza and at the reception you can buy bread, milk and various kiosk goods. The nearest grocery store is in Aurland (30km) We do NOT have emptying facilities for motorhomes. The nearest is in Gudvangen.
