Olden Camping

Olden Camping Gytri is located by Oldevatnet, (NB! NY Address: Oldedalsvegen 1296, 6788 OLDEN) in one of Nordfjord's finest valleys - Oldedalen. The place is surrounded by high mountains, waterfalls, lakes and glaciers. You will find us 13,5 km from Olden center, at Fv 724 Olden - Briksdalsbreen. We are the second campsite after the tunnel, NB! Look for the Moose at the driveway. Olden Camping Gytri, is a good starting point for hiking in the mountains, forests and fields, glacier walks or day trips by car. The hosts at Olden Camping Gytri, place great emphasis on service and cleaning!

Olden Camping Gytri officially opened in 1961, then with the name Gytri Camping. Name change was made in the year 2000, due to name change between two campsites in the village (Gytri and Gryta). Gytri Camping was the first campsite in Oldedalen (on the road between Olden and Briksdal).

The campsite was a family business until 2015, when it was started by Leiv Gytri in 1961 and in 1990 taken over by his son John Arild Gytri, who ran the place until he died in 2015. New owners took over in December 2015, Roger Sveum and Kristin Fonn Sveum, they moved from Hamar and started the season in May 2016. 

When Leiv Gytri started up, there was only room for a few units. The campsite was cultivated by hand. In the period 1965-75, 3 cabins were built.

The sanitary facilities consisted of an outdoor toilet. In 1995, a new sanitary facility was built that is also adapted for disabled people. There was a separate space for emptying caravans and campers. As the years have passed, the Gytri family has constantly improved the campsite, given its well-being, comfort and, not least, the future of tourism.

Olden Camping Gytri, can accommodate about 70 units. We have high standard cabins. 2 large beautiful cabins were built in 2022. And Nystova was completed in 2019. + 3 slightly smaller cabins.

Activities

Activities on site: Playground, fishing, 2 rowing boats, 9 Sitontop kayaks, 2 canoes, 2 sup boards 4 pedal boats + swimming and barbecue area

Activities in the area: Trip in the woods and fields (marked trails), "Trollbil" ride to Briksdalsbreen. , Via ferrata and Loen. Loen Skylift to Hoven, with a view of Olden and Loen. Sea rafting / sailing boat trips with Briksdal adventure in Olden, Hydla climbing park in Stryn. Day trips by car or bicycle.

From Oslo: Follow the E6 north to Otta. Drive RV 15 west to Stryn. Drive through Stryn center and turn left at the roundabout at Esso. Follow RV 60 towards Førde until you reach Olden center. Follow the signs to Briksdalsbreen Fv 724, about 14 km. The campsite is the other on the left side, over a small bridge. (Look for the sign - OLDEN - on the road Fv 724) From Bergen: Follow the E39 north all the way to Skei. Follow the signs to Stryn. Turn right at the first crossroads in Olden and follow Fv 724 towards Briksdalsbreen, about 13 km. The campsite is the second on the left after the pipe tunnel, over a small bridge. (Look for the sign - OLDEN GYTRI - on the road Fv 724) the driveway to us has a statue of a Moose.
