Rondane - Norway's first national park
Rondane National Park was established in 1962 and is Norway's first national park. The national park is located between Gudbrandsdalen and Atndalen in a high mountain area in Innlandet county.
The national park is important as a habitat for one of our last strains of wild reindeer. The bedrock in this area is very sparse, giving a poor vegetation. It gives poor grazing conditions for cows and sheep, but the deer are perpetuated by the many lichens to be found.
Rondane is an eldorado for anyone who loves nature. Here you will find as many as 10 peaks that are over 2000 masl. - all this in a fantastic area that is also characterized by its long flat plains. The most famous peaks include Storronden (2138 masl), Rondeslottet (2178 masl), Veslesmeden (2016 masl) and Storsmeden (2017 masl).
There are also numerous other smaller mountain that is suitable for short trips. Gråhø is peaking at just 1050 m., But the view from here is second to none.
Rondvassbu
Rondvassbu is a tourist cabin in Rondane, and is the largest cabin DNT Oslo and Surroundings have in this area.
