Lærdal - Historical wooden buildings surrounded by a wonderful landscape
Lærdalsøyri or Lærdalsøren is a town in Lærdal municipality in Sogn og Fjordane. Here you will find, among other things, one of Norway's most valuable wooden houses, Gamle Lærdalsøyri.
This is a protected wooden house environment from the 1700th and 1800th centuries. The wooden building houses about 170 buildings in, among other things, Swiss style.
18.januar 2014 broke out a very powerful fire Laerdal center. Because of strong winds, it was a hard quench working for fire departments, and entire 40 buildings burned down. Among these was the 17 residential building and a listed building.
Lærdalstunnelen is a tunnel on 24 509 m which runs between Aurland and Lærdal in Sogn og Fjordane. The tunnel was opened in 2000, and is the world's longest road tunnel.
Gudvanga Tunnel is the second longest road tunnel. It is 11 428 m long and was opened in 1991. The tunnel runs from Gudvangen towards Wonder Valley.
