Hessdalen - mystery and history!

Hessdalen is an approximately 12 km beautiful long mountain valley that you will find in Holtålen municipality in Sør-Trøndelag - about 12 km south of Trondheim and about 4 km north of Røros.
Hessdalen has a long tradition of accommodating guests and visitors. Some farms were more often used to transport people on horseback to the farms by Herssjøen and Øyungen. Only after World War II did car traffic pick up, but these trips often became a challenge for both car and driver. Now you can easily reach these farm areas in a few minutes and with good driving conditions.
Hessdals-phenomenon
Best known - both nationally and internationally - is enough Hessdalen for their unexplained luminous phenomena that several have observed over the valley in recent years. It was in December 1981 that residents began to see strange glowing orbs moving in the sky. Hessdals-phenomenon - as it often called - still after many years of research not gotten a good explanation.

History Hessdalen
Hessdalen is much more than luminous phenomena in the sky, Hessdalen has a very interesting history that stretches back hundreds of years.
Røros Copper Works its activity at Northern Mines gave the village bostetning through mining and behavior. Between 1870-1920 had been the last major mining period in the village.
