Hardanger - a burgeoning vårparadis
Hardanger is perhaps most famous for its stunning scenery with waterfalls, mountains, fjords and glaciers. This has attracted both tourists and artists over the years.
The Hardangerfjord is 183 km long, and is Norway's second longest fjord, only beaten by the Sognefjord. The Folgefonna glacier can be found on the south side of the Hardangerfjord. Folgefonna is Norway's third largest glacier. Jostedalsbreen is Norway's largest glacier, while Svartisen is Norway's second largest.
In addition to its powerful nature is Hardanger also very famous for its large production of fruit. Approximately 40% of all Norwegian fruit comes from Hardanger. Here they grow both apples, pears, plums and cherries.
Flowering season draws every year tourists from around the world who want to experience the sight of thousands of fruit trees are in bloom.
Good trip!
