Frosta - a small historical gem in Central Norway
Frosta is a municipality and a peninsula in Nord-Trondelag jutting into the Trondheim Fjord. Much of Frosta has panoramic views to Trondheim.
Agriculture is central in Frosta. Here is a significant greenhouse industry and potato and vegetable production. For this reason referred Frosta often as "Trondheim's kitchen garden". A drive through Frosta a summer guarantees to offer the sight of lush meadows - and can be found on all sides! The delightful aroma of onions and other vegetables makes it quickly becomes tempting to stop at one of the many farm outlets that you find out here. It bit special with these outlets is that they are unattended, in Frosta is the honesty that reigns!
Tautra
Tautra is a small island located anchored to Frosta via a causeway one can drive on. On Tautra find including abbey ruins after the medieval Tautra Kloster. There is also a farm shop including selling perennials and a cafe / restaurant which also offers accommodation
Frostating
Frostating is the oldest thing place in Norway, and this had its seat on Logtun at Frosta. What space is currently marked with 12 monoliths / county stones. Here are the names of the 8 innafjordsfylkene and the 4 utafjordsfylkene and the number of delegates for each county. On Logtun you can find the old stuff Church, Logtun church.
Øksningen
Øksningen is an islet just outside Frosta. This islet was used as "place of execution" in ancient times. Dishes The methods vary, but decapitation was most common. It should also have been burned witches here.
Frosta trail
Frosta trail goes around large parts of Frosta and is a great trail. The trail leads you through a beautiful terrain where you can both see beautiful plants, carvings and various farmyard.
